How to Get a Job abroad: A Complete Guide
Have you ever thought about what it would be like to pack your bags, move to another country, and start fresh? Maybe you’ve dreamed about working from a cafe by the beach in Portugal, or you just want a change .
But knowing where to start can feel overwhelming. Here’s a short, practical guide to help you take the first step toward your international career.
1: Figure out where and why
Before you start applying everywhere, take a moment to think about why you want to move. Is it sunshine? Career growth? New experiences?
Once you know that, it’s easier to find the right place. For example, if you love a relaxed lifestyle, Portugal or Greece might be perfect. If you’re into a fast-paced life, the Netherlands or Germany could be your match.
2: Get Your CV Ready
When applying abroad, your CV is what helps you stand out. Keep it short and clear, and don’t be afraid to show your personality a bit. Employers want to know who you are, not just what you’ve done.
Use a generic CV style that works across borders, our team is happy to give you tips if you’re unsure. Make sure your CV is in English, and highlights your language skills and international experience.

3: Be Yourself in the Interview
International interviews can feel different, but don’t overthink it. You don’t need perfect answers, just be genuine about why you want to relocate and what excites you about working in a new country. Show that you’re open-minded and ready for an adventure. That mindset matters more than anything else.
All interviews happen over Teams, so make sure the technical side is sorted, be on time, dress professionally, and check your camera and microphone beforehand.
4: Sort Out your paperwork
Visas, documents, not the most exciting part, but planning ahead is important. Every country has its own rules, so check official government websites or embassies for details. We don’t handle visa applications ourselves, but we’ll point you in the right direction. Often, the employer will assist with paperwork and relocation, so you won’t be navigating it all on your own.
5: Enjoy the journey
The first days abroad can be a mix of excitement and “what am I doing?” moments, that’s normal. But soon, you’ll find your rhythm, discover your favorite local spots, and realize you’ve built a whole new life in another country.
