Senior Quality Engineer On-site in Thailand

The Sr. Quality Engineer is responsible for the quality of the manufactured product at the production site. This is to be accomplished by the administration of the quality conformance specification, driving continuous improvement plans, execute corrective actions, and acting as consultants to the suppliers.
Job Responsibilities:
• Support team with new product development through on-site support including Pilot Builds, Product Audit, Capability Studies, Drop Testing, documentation, etc.
• Support DURPRO (during production build) for new production by reviewing production readiness and reviewing and training inspectors on products.
• Assure on-going life testing stations are setup and operational for production start.
• Onsite Factory Support. Meet with supplier Quality contact and up manage to review issues. Walk and audit production lines. Assist as needed PSI.
• HBB lead on Weekly Manufacturing Report (WMR) in regards to training supplier, helping supplier in implementation, and on going reporting, and using WMR to identify issues.
• Assist and Support PreShipment Inspections and Inspectors.
• Perform Quality Conformance Audits
• Support CARs written from Conduct physical evaluations of initial returns for new products and for high return products. Includes necessary teardown to find root causes of defects.
• Prepare and issue CAR’s based on manufacturing or PSI issues. Review responses to CAR’s and work with supplier until an acceptable corrective action is offered and implemented. Follow up on CAR’s until corrective action is implemented and some type of verification is done.
• Special assignments as required to focus on factory or product issues.
• On site factory support to identify improvements in production output efficiency and error reduction.
• Leading suppliers to implement identified manufacturing improvements.
Job Qualifications
- BS Engineering Degree
- 5-7 years experience as a Quality / Manufacturing Engineer, Product Engineer, Mfg Engineer or Industrial Engineer all with at least 3 years of direct Quality Engineering experience.
- Education or training in statistical tools including X-Bar charts, run charts, X-Y charts, 5W, 5M, variations, histograms, DOE, etc.
- Computer skills involving both communication software (email, word processing, chat) and more technical software (spreadsheets, DB’s, Power BI, Tableau, AS400, statistical analysis, Concerto, QMS, FTP).
- Excellent written and oral communication skills to effectively present issues to top management; and to effectively persuade suppliers and/or cross-functional teams to take certain actions.
- Experience to envision the correlation between certain manufacturing process steps and defects found in a product.
- Must be aggressive with suppliers and understand how to communicate with them, for example digging down to find true root causes of issues.
- Excellent Speaking and Writing Skills in English and Language of Factory being supported
